Parenting a child on the autism spectrum is a unique and rewarding journey, but it comes with its own set of challenges. One such challenge that many parents face is the tendency of their autistic children to elope or escape out of the front door.
Elopement can be a terrifying experience for parents, but with the right strategies and tools, you can help keep your child safe. In this blog post, we will discuss how to prevent elopement and introduce you to a helpful product called the GlideLok childproof door lock, which many parents have found useful for their children with autism.
Elopement, also known as wandering or bolting, refers to the act of an individual leaving a supervised or safe area without permission or without the knowledge of caregivers. This behavior is particularly common among autistic children and can pose serious risks to their safety. Autistic elopement often occurs due to sensory sensitivities, a fascination with certain places or objects, or a desire for independence.
1) Communication and understanding: One of the first steps in preventing elopement is to improve communication with your autistic child. Understand their triggers, needs, and interests. By identifying the reasons behind their elopement tendencies, you can work on addressing those specific issues. This may involve therapy, sensory integration techniques, or creating a more accommodating environment at home.
2) Supervision and monitoring: Maintaining constant supervision is crucial for your child's safety. Designate "safe zones" within your home where your child can play without the risk of elopement. Use baby gates, barriers and childproof door locks such as the GlideLok to restrict access to areas that could be dangerous. You can also install security cameras to keep an eye on your child when you're not in the same room.
3) Safety education: Teach your child about safety in a clear and straightforward manner. Use visual aids, social stories, or other communication tools to explain the dangers of leaving the house without supervision. Reinforce the importance of staying in designated areas and seeking help from trusted adults when necessary.
4) Sensory management: Many autistic children elope to escape sensory overload. Create a sensory-friendly environment at home by providing sensory tools, like fidget toys or sensory rooms, where your child can regulate their sensory input. This can reduce the desire to escape as a coping mechanism.
5) Childproof door locks: Install childproof door locks on all your exterior doors. These locks can buy you time, so you can intervene, in the event your child tries to open the front door.
Here's why so many parents of autistic children are happy with the GlideLok:

Despite being a relatively small area of your home, the pantry often houses many hazards for your child. According to an article by ROSPA, 67,000 children are injured in the kitchen every year. Many of these accidents occur in or around the pantry.
While relying on keeping the pantry door closed is somewhat reasonable, just one instance of leaving the door open can mean your child is injured. The best way to prevent this is to purchase one of the baby proof door locks in Chicago. However, not all of these door locks are equal. In this article, I will go over some of the hazards that could be in the pantry as well as the best baby proof door lock for protecting your child.
One of the most common hazards in the pantry are the heavy objects such as cans of food or food storage containers. For adults, these items seem relatively harmless even when dropped in a way that they hit you. However, for children, these items can hurt much more and they have a much worse reaction time, so getting out of the way is unlikely. Even if the cans miss their head, a can of peaches landing on their toe is still very painful and will likely lead to more than just a bruise, probably a broken toe.
Another hazard is the existence of vast amounts of food in the first place. Children often struggle to regulate food intake and if they are presented with large amounts of food, even if it’s healthy, they can graze and overeat, leading to stomach issues and other health problems. Additionally, if it is unhealthy food, children are likely to experience sugar highs and other behavior issues such as craving those unhealthy foods and refusing healthier foods that likely don’t taste as good.
The last and final hazard is not necessarily causing direct harm to your child but is still a serious concern. Children are often messy. A pantry full of easily breakable food products like goldfish can be a prime spot for making these messes. Not only can this cost you time in the form of cleaning it up and money in the form of buying more food to restock, but these messes could lead to any pets you may have getting sick or inviting bugs into your house. Either way, these messes can be even more costly than just the preliminary steps of cleaning and buying more food.
Now that you understand the hazards that exist within and around the pantry, let’s discuss the best way to prevent these incidents from occurring.
Of course, as mentioned earlier, keeping the door shut is a good idea, but isn’t foolproof. Instead, it is much safer to use one of the baby proof door locks in Chicago. But which one?
Well, there is one that stands as a clear winner among the competition. The GlideLok is better because it is more durable and less accessible for children and less easily manipulated by them. Additionally, the GlideLok is easier to use for adults than a plastic cover that you have to squeeze just right.
The GlideLok sits on top of the door, putting it out of reach of children as opposed to many alternatives that sit on the doorknob. Additionally, whether you have a door knob or a door handle, the GlideLok works just fine. In contrast, many of its competitors only work for one or the other.
As you can see, the GlideLok is the best way to protect your child from the hazards of your pantry. Purchase the GlideLok here.

Your home is full of wonders and fascinating things for your child. While some of these things can be harmless, others can pose a danger to your child. These dangers are sometimes difficult to pinpoint as an adult since many of them seem safe to us. I hope to inform you of some of these dangers and provide you with an option of how to remedy the situation and decrease your child’s chance of harm.
The best way to prevent any type of danger is to prevent your child from encountering it. The GlideLok is the best way to accomplish this task. Compared to other child proof door locks in Toronto, the GlideLok is much more accessible and has many safety features that outclass the competition. If you are looking to purchase the GlideLok, click here. If you need help with installation in Toronto, please reach out to our friends Kiddie Proofers. You can also view their Google reviews.
The utility room of your home is often inconspicuous and doesn’t always receive much attention. Due to this, many people may skip over it when looking for threats your child may come into contact with. One of the most common threats in the utility room is the washer and dryer. While difficult for adults to hurt themselves, washers and dryers can easily hurt children.
One way is if your child were to crawl into the washer or dryer. That could be extremely harmful, even just when they attempt to get out and fall. Additionally, any power outlets your washer or dryer are plugged into can pose a threat to your child. Any drawers or cabinets that are a part of the washer or dryer can also pose a risk in the form of pinched fingers. At the very least, your child may even accidentally start or stop your appliances which can just be an inconvenience. As you can see, just having a washer and dryer comes with many hazards for your child.
Other hazards often found in the utility room include cleaning supplies and chemicals. Some common cleaning supplies include detergent, bleach, and disinfectant. All of these can be quite harmful to your child if they access them.
One very relevant chemical is the detergent pods, which were the catalyst for an entire trend a couple of years ago. A study by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission found that an estimated 18,300 emergency department visits for children under age six between 2013 and 2016 occurred due to liquid laundry packets. When a child sees these, it’s just a small, bright, and colorful item and can resemble candy. This is why detergent pods can be especially dangerous as they may command more of your child’s attention than other chemicals. To prevent any of the aforementioned hazards from harming your child, the best option is the GlideLok.
As I mentioned in the introduction, the GlideLok is much more accessible and has more safety features than other child proof door locks in Toronto. Most child proof door locks are plastic and go on the door handle. Not only are these often quite flimsy, but children can still reach them and either figure out how to open or the door, or just remove the lock. Instead, the GlideLok sits on top of the door, making it inaccessible for young children.
The GlideLok also reduces the need for multiple kinds of locks or latches inside the room. While it may be advised to have other locks or latches on your cabinets, drawers, etc., the GlideLok can prevent access to the entire room, which is a much safer alternative. To protect your kids, the GlideLok is your best option. Visit the links above to get started on securing your home today!

Bathrooms are notoriously dangerous for young children. According to a study on pubmed.gov, each year, over 51,000 children in the United States are taken to the ER for injuries they received in the bathroom. Young children can hurt themselves or cause severe damage to your home in the bathroom, and simple cabinet or toilet locks aren’t always enough to stop them.
However, a GlideLok can prevent access to the entire bathroom. The GlideLok sits on top of the door so children can’t reach it. This makes GlideLok better than the other childproof door locks in San Antonio.
Within your home, some of the most dangerous rooms are bathrooms. Toilets pose a constant hazard to your child for multiple reasons. One reason is that children can pinch their fingers and get them stuck under the toilet bowl lid. Even if the toilet bowl lid doesn’t pinch their fingers, toilets are covered in bacteria that can get kids sick.
Toilets also pose a drowning risk for your children. Children can drown in just a few inches of water, making drowning just another reason toilets can be dangerous. Finally, children may clog the toilet causing flooding and potentially damaging your home. While toilet locks can be used to prevent these problems, they are less safe than the GlideLok and don’t prevent children from accessing other dangerous things within the bathroom.
Other hazards in the bathroom include similar effects as the toilet. For instance, cabinet doors can pose a potential threat to your child. Your child could pinch their fingers or bruise their body. Also similar to the toilet, cabinets have specific locks that prevent your child’s access, but they aren’t as effective as the GlideLok. The GlideLok is harder for children to reach and also prevents access to a larger area.
Another reason you may not want your child in the bathroom is they could potentially cause damage to your belongings or home. Children are naturally curious and as such, they will explore as much as they can. Any open drawers or cabinets are fair game and anything inside is just like a toy. Any jewelry or perfume could be damaged, destroyed, or even flushed down the toilet if your child has enough time.
To prevent harm to your child and to prevent damage to your home or your belongings, use the GlideLok. The GlideLok is more accessible than other door locks while also being much harder for children to bypass. Additionally, using the GlideLok prevents you from needing multiple cabinet locks and toilet locks. This is why the GlideLok is the best when compared to other childproof door locks in San Antonio. To take the next step, purchase the GlideLok for your home.

Home Theaters in Dallas can be expensive. For instance, DFW Home Theater has packages ranging between $1,700 and $35,000. After making this sizable investment, you’ll want to ensure that you keep the area clean and keep the equipment protected and working properly. Additionally, a home theater can serve as a risky area for young children, so it may be wise to keep them away from your home theater if you aren’t directly supervising them. The best way to accomplish both of these things is with a GlideLok.
The GlideLok is the best when compared to other baby proof door locks in Dallas. With better accessibility than alternatives, you should pick the GlideLok for your home theater.
The biggest concern for any parent is that harm may come to their child. While a home theater may seem relatively safe, there are multiple hazards that you should be wary of. Most home theaters have rows of seats, usually reclining chairs. These can prove to be a hazard to your child, whether it is pinching their fingers in the reclining mechanism or potentially getting a limb stuck underneath.
Any cabinets or mini-fridges pose a similar problem as closing the doors can also pinch your child’s fingers. Any tables or speakers that are standing alone could be knocked over and hurt your child as well. Finally, even just a few stair steps in your theater can be a hazard for your young child. To avoid these being an issue, pick up one of the baby proof door locks in Dallas to protect your child. The best of these is the GlideLok. The GlideLok has easier access for adults but is more difficult for your young child.
Another reason to get a GlideLok is to protect your Home Theater and prevent any sort of damage or mess. While your child may behave well most of the time, accidents happen. Even the most well-behaved children will accidentally knock things over or spill things. One example would be spilling drinks on the carpet or onto the chairs. Not only does that cause a mess, but it could also be financially burdensome. Your child might accidentally knock over a table or speaker. Not only could this be hazardous as mentioned above, but anything on the speaker or anything on the table might be damaged in the process. The GlideLok helps prevent all of these issues by securing your door so you have control of what rooms your child has access to.
Now that you understand how your home theater would benefit from a GlideLok, it is time to take the next step. The GlideLok is superior to other baby proof door locks in Dallas because is harder for a child to use while still being easy for the parents. Additionally, the GlideLok rests on top of the door as opposed to on a doorknob, meaning unique door handles don’t pose an issue for the GlideLok.
Take your next step and purchase the GlideLok today. For help with installation in Dallas, please contact Infant House. You can see their Google reviews here. Take the next step to secure your home theater and purchase the GlideLok today.

If you do have a dog or plan on getting one, you may want to keep your dog from roaming your house. The GlideLok is perfect for keeping dogs in a specific area that keeps your dog safe.

One of the biggest hazards for your dog in your house is food. Dogs will over-eat and can get sick just from that, even if the food is safe for them in normal amounts. If they get into food that is harmful to them, such as chocolate brownies, they could get sick that much faster.
Over-eating and indiscriminate eating are forms of grazing. Grazing can be harmful to your dog and hurt you financially. Whether it is taking your dog to the vet or replacing food that they ate, either way it doesn’t have positive outcomes. The GlideLok can prevent grazing by limiting your dog’s access to parts of the house you don’t want them in. Whether it’s the pantry, kitchen, or the place where you store their treats, the GlideLok can help you keep it closed and secured.
Another reason you should purchase the GlideLok for your dog is to prevent them from roaming freely. Whether it is going outside unattended or just moving through the house freely, they can potentially harm themselves or damage your home.
The GlideLok is the best in comparison to other childproof door locks in Austin, Texas at preventing this. The GlideLok sits on top of the door, meaning you have full control over whether your dog has access. Since you don’t want your dog rummaging through your clothes or jewelry, maybe you decide to lock your bedroom door. If your dog isn’t potty-trained, a GlideLok can prevent access to all the doors leading to rooms with carpet. If your dog likes to eat grass, a GlideLok can prevent them from going outside unattended. Whatever your reasoning, the GlideLok can help you protect your dog and your home.
The GlideLok is perfect for protecting your dog from hazards in your house. Whether it is to prevent grazing or to prevent unsupervised roaming, the GlideLok can help.
The GlideLok can also protect your house from any damage your dog may accidentally cause. Whatever your reason, the GlideLok can help. The GlideLok’s versatility and accessibility work together to make it the best out of all the other childproof and dog proof door latches in Austin, Texas.

The GlideLok is the most accessible and easy-to-use childproof door lock in Long Island. With superior protection for your child as well as more durable materials, the GlideLok beats out the competition. You can purchase the GlideLok here. For help with installation in Long Island, New York, please contact Home Safe Childproofing or you can look at their Google reviews here. You may have some questions about the GlideLok, so let’s go through some of the most common questions our customers ask.
Yes. The GlideLok is designed to fit around the door but still allow the door to close completely. The GlideLok sits flat on top of the door, allowing for the door to be opened and closed easily without any interference from the GlideLok.
Yes. The GlideLok is unique with the ability to be locked or unlocked from either side of a door. Many other childproof door locks go around the door handle which means you may need two of them to protect a door from both sides. The GlideLok ignores this issue by sitting at the top of the door and allowing for easy access from either side of the door. While the GlideLok peg must be installed on the non-hinged side of the door, the design of the GlideLok includes finger holds to either side of the door. These finger holds allow the GlideLok to be moved or adjusted from either side of the door.
Yes. The GlideLok is great for use on interior or exterior doors. As long as it is a hinged door, the GlideLok can be used as an aid to keep your child in or out of certain areas of your home. Almost any other childproof door lock in Long Island will be used on the door handle. While they fit around some doorknobs, any handles or unique shapes can cause them to not work. The GlideLok bypasses this concern by going on top of the door. Additionally, with a removal spacer bar, the GlideLok can fit on top of multiple width doors. Therefore, it will be more useful than other door locks because it can be used on more of the doors in your house.
Yes. On either side of the GlideLok there is an attachment site that is open for a rod if you want to attach one. Attaching a rod will make the GlideLok much easier to reach. However, attaching a rod won’t make it any easier for your young child. The GlideLok sits on top of the door so it is still too difficult for your young child to reach. And as a secondary precaution, the rod can always be removed and reattached later.
Now you know more about the GlideLok and its versatility. You can purchase the GlideLok here and if you want help with installation, remember to contact Home Safe Childproofing in the Long Island Area. If you want to buy the best childproof door lock in Long Island, buy the GlideLok and protect your child.

To prevent these issues, the best choice is to get a childproof door lock. When looking at childproof door locks in Washington D.C., the best choice for protecting your child and your house is the GlideLok.
You may be wondering why your child would even go into the home gym anyway. One of the most enticing things for kids of all ages is yoga balls. With bright colors, they can easily entice your child to explore your home gym. Not to mention kids naturally try to imitate you. If they see you going in and working out, they may attempt to do something similar. This can lead to many injuries as they won’t know how to move around a gym safely and protect themselves. These injuries can include broken toes or fingers from free weights. Even the ones you may think are light are potentially dangerous for your child.
Other injuries can come from any workout machines or equipment with moving parts. These machines are especially dangerous as they can cause pinched fingers and your child can get stuck in them. Each year, thousands of children are admitted to emergency departments due to poisoning. Many household poisons are in bathrooms, making bathrooms potentially hazardous for your child. You may be thinking that cabinet locks will prevent your child from encountering hazards, but it is much safer to prevent access to the entire bathroom. To do this, you should use a GlideLok, the best choice when compared to other childproof door locks in the New York Metropolitan Area.
To start, let’s define what a poison is. A poison is something that causes a negative reaction when ingested. These reactions can range from mild to severe, but none have good results. Poisonous chemicals can be found all around the house and many of them reside in the bathroom. Now that we have defined what a poison is, we can discuss different types of poisons found in the bathroom.
One of the most common poisonous chemicals in your bathroom is toothpaste. While toothpaste is safe to use when cleaning your teeth, swallowing toothpaste is potentially harmful. This is due to the fluoride found in many toothpaste brands. Fluoride is safe in small doses, but too much can cause harm to your child. By using the GlideLok, you can keep toothpaste out of the reach of your children. Since the GlideLok is very difficult for children to open as compared to other childproof door locks in the New York Metropolitan Area, it is the best way to limit your child’s access to the bathroom.
GlideLok shown above installed on a bathroom door
Another common bathroom chemical is mouthwash. Mouthwash can contain fluoride, the same chemical found in toothpaste, and alcohol, but not the drinkable version found in beer and wine. Either of these can lead to harmful reactions if ingested by young children. Experts recommend not letting children under the age of six have access to any form of mouth rinse. To keep your children away from mouthwash, the GlideLok is the best out the childproof door locks in the New York Metropolitan Area.
Finally, let’s discuss one more very common type of chemical found in bathrooms, medicine. Medicines have a huge range of chemical components and can range from having no effect on a child to having severe consequences. A medicine cabinet is something you never want a child to access unrestricted, so it is very important to make sure the child can’t even get close. The best way to do this is by using the GlideLok.
Now that you know more about common poisonous chemicals that can be found in the bathroom, it is time to take the next steps and ensure your child’s safety. While cabinet locks can help prevent a child’s access, a door lock is much better. A door lock prevents access to the entire bathroom, meaning fewer locks for more protection.
When looking at the potential choices of childproof door locks in the New York Metropolitan, the GlideLok is the best. The GlideLok is the most accessible and offers the most protection when compared to other door locks.

According to a survey conducted by the National Association of Professional Organizers, 50% of homeowners named the garage as the most disorganized area of their house. For adults, this can be nothing more than a daunting task that requires a few hours of organizing and cleaning. For a toddler, however, this can mean a space full of potential hazards. How can we prevent their access to the garage? The best option is to use a GlideLok on the door leading to the garage. Compared to other baby-proof door locks in Minneapolis, the GlideLok is the best door lock for protecting your child.
Let’s go over the common hazards you may find in a garage even if it is organized and clean. To start, we have tools and toolboxes. Many children’s toys are designed around “adult” products that the children can use safely. Toddlers can safely play with a light plastic hammer and pretend to be a carpenter, but you wouldn’t ever give them a real hammer. Using a GlideLok ensures that your toddler won’t have access to these potentially harmful tools that may be stored in the garage.
Another common hazard includes chemicals and other harmful substances such as pesticides, oil, and gas. Out of the other baby-proof door locks in Minneapolis, the GlideLok is the best for protecting your child from these. Whether it is a can of Raid or a gas can sitting in the corner, a toddler may accidentally ingest these chemicals. In order to keep the child safe and away from these potentially harmful chemicals in the garage, a GlideLok on the garage door is your best option.
In case you have neither of the previous examples in your garage, you will certainly have this last one. The garage is never completely safe to be in. This is because opening or closing the garage door and moving a vehicle in or out are hazards. They are unpredictable which means they serve as a constant hazardous circumstance. To protect your child, you should use the GlideLok as opposed to the other baby-proof door locks in Minneapolis. The GlideLok is safer and has more usability than the competition, making it the best choice to protect your child. For even more accessibility, you can purchase an acrylic rod here if you have 8′ doors or cannot reach the top of your doors.
Now, you understand the hazards of a garage and the dangers it poses to a toddler. It is time to take the next steps. The GlideLok is the best compared to other baby-proof door locks in Minneapolis. The GlideLok is the best childproof door lock for Chicagoland for multiple reasons. Firstly, it allows for easy access from either side of the door to unlock, unlike many other childproof door locks. Secondly, the GlideLok is adjustable, allowing it to fit on different thicknesses of doors. And lastly, it is easier for the parent to open when compared with other door locks, but more difficult for the child.
The GlideLok is a clear winner when it comes to childproof door locks for Chicagoland. One reason the GlideLok is better is it is accessible from either side of a door. A traditional childproof door lock covers the doorknob. Consequently, these locks only work on one side of the door, and you need two to cover both sides. However, with the GlideLok, only one is needed. The GlideLok sits on top of the door rather than the door handle and can be locked or unlocked from either side making it the superior childproof door lock for baby proofing your home.
Now you may be hesitant to purchase the GlideLok because you think it won’t fit on your doors. However, the GlideLok is the best childproof door lock for Chicagoland in part due to its adjustability. The GlideLok contains a removable space bar allowing it to fit different sized doors and making it a better door lock than the alternatives. Many door locks are designed to go around a traditional round doorknob so they are incompatible with doorknobs of other shapes. However, the GlideLok was designed to be placed at the top of the door which removes this issue.
One of the most defining features of the GlideLok that makes it the best option is its usability. As compared with other childproof door locks for Chicagoland, the GlideLok is easier to use. This only applies to the caregivers of the child. For the child, the GlideLok is difficult to unlock, especially when compared to other door locks. As mentioned earlier, other door locks go over doorknobs, a fairly easy-to-reach place for many young children. Since the GlideLok resides at the top of the door, young children would struggle to reach it, even with a broomstick. For older children, you can purchase an acrylic rod to lock or unlock the door.
The GlideLok is the best childproof door lock for baby proofing your home. With adjustability to different sized doors and usability that outperforms competitors, it is the best choice. Now that you have a clear understanding of what benefits the GlideLok has to offer, you may be wondering how to purchase them. For purchase, please order here.
If you need assistance with the installation of the GlideLok in Chicagoland, please contact our friends at A & H Childproofers. The GlideLok beats the competition when it comes to accessibility and usability and this is what makes the GlideLok the best childproof door lock for Chicagoland.

The best way to child proof a door handle or lever is to use a solution that attaches to the top of your door, such as the GlideLok Childproofing Top of Door Lock. Please be sure to order a lock that opens from both sides of the door, so you don’t need to worry about getting locked out.
Many baby door locks that are marketed for doors with handles only open from one side of the door. You wouldn't normally think this would be a problem, but when you look back at the reviews more closely, you'll discover a huge number of parents who were accidentally locked out or trapped in a room when the lock was engaged by a toddler or pet.
Most of these parents ended up needing to kick the door down, or call 911 for assistance to break free. The entire time, their baby or toddler was on the other side either crying or roaming the house unsupervised. Not a fantastic plan, if you ask us!
What good does it do if your baby or toddler can reach the standard babyproof lock you installed? If your kids are like ours, they will spend hours a day fiddling with it until they know how it works.
We believe any legitimate child lock for door must be installed at the very top of your door. This means you can open it, but your kids can't! So they will never figure out the lock, and they couldn't open it even if they wanted to. Now that's how you prevent household accidents.
There are two main choices for childproofing a door knob:
First, the good thing about baby door knob covers is they are cheap. But cheap can sometimes become very expensive when the product simply doesn't work ... and you need to go back and make a purchase for a different product anyway. Here are a few of the challenges experienced by parents using the standard covers for child proof door knobs for baby:
1) They don't fit your door knob.
You've probably already noticed that not all knobs are alike. Sure, there are standard door knob sizes, but many parents now know that their door knobs are either too big or way too small to fit the cheap plastic covers.
2) They are very difficult for an adult to open - and not difficult enough for a child!
You read that right. Many adults complain that door knob covers are incredibly frustrating to use themselves. They deal with pinched skin, not being able to grip the door knob, and overall finding it super hard to open the door. But don't worry - your kid can help you! Because they seem to be able to figure out these supposedly "child proof door locks" faster than any adult.
3) They install at child-level.
We recommend that any child safety lock for door be installed out of reach of children. Why is that so important? First, it's because your baby, toddler and just children in general like to spend their time figuring out things you don't want them to. When you place a child proof door knob right in front of their face, they can't help but want to "figure out the puzzle." And before you know it, they make their way through the door.
4) They are made of flimsy plastic.
While plastic allows these products to be cheap, it also means they break or come apart easily. We recommend that any child lock for doors be made of a highly durable material, such as painted metal like the GlideLok Childproofing Door Lock. This way, you'll never wonder if it will make it through all your children. Buy once, use it forever.
The best choice for child proofing or baby proofing any standard interior or exterior door is a durable metal, top-of-door lock that sits out of reach of children, such as the GlideLok Childproofing Door Lock. Here's why:
1) Kids can't spend hours a day figuring out the lock.
Childproofing gadgets attract toddlers' attention like a moth to a flame. And once you have their attention, there's no stopping the insatiable curiosity of a child trying to solve this new puzzle you've presented to them. Within a few hours - or minutes - many children (and perhaps a baby or two) will figure out a way to open the door even with a door knob cover.
2) It's easy for an adult to operate.
You know how usually something being child proof means it's actually ADULT-proof? That's because the manufacturers assume it will be subjected to a child's curiosity for hours a day, and therefore it must be difficult to maneuver. The problem is, this will not only prevent children from using the product, but adults as well.
When you place babyproof door locks out of reach of your kids in the first place, it can be super easy to use for an adult because the kids can't reach it anyway. The GlideLok Childproofing Top-of-Door Lock glides easily across the top of your door, and it's a breeze for adults to use. Now THAT's a great idea!
3) It's inconspicuous and doesn't stand out like a sore thumb.
Most makers of baby safety products seem to care very little about how the product looks with your decor. But you probably do care. Sure, what matters most is that child safety door locks do their job and prevent children from escaping or entering unsafe areas of your house. On the other hand, you've probably worked hard to create beautiful surroundings and don't want a cheap, in-your-face baby proofing product to erase that.
An option like the GlideLok Childproofing Top-of-Door Lock can be so inconspicuous that most people won't even realize it's there. First, it's painted white - the color of most interior doors. Second, you can't see much of the product when it's in place anyway.
A parent's worst nightmare is their toddler or young child escaping out the front door at night, or even during the day when you're engrossed in another activity. The best way to prevent a child from escaping your house is to install a top-of-door lock like the GlideLok Childproofing Door Lock, which operates from both sides of the door so you won't accidentally be locked out.
1) Be sure the lock opens from both sides.
Remember, you're not looking for a security lock here. If you were, you certainly wouldn't want the lock to be able to open from either side. But as a baby proofing solution, that is perfect! When the lock is only accessible from one side of the door, it means you can potentially be locked out (or in) if someone accidentally engages the lock.
Just take a look at the online reviews for baby proofing products that only operate from one side of the door. You will see story after story of emergency situations where the parents became trapped in a room and had to either:
Meanwhile, their little children ran around unsupervised in the house, getting into who-knows-what while their parent was trapped. In many cases, the kids were quite distressed and crying uncontrollably. Not exactly the ideal situation when all you wanted to do was prevent your toddler from escaping into the street.
2) Check the width and the fit for an exterior door.
The sad truth is most top-of-door locks don't even fit an exterior door. They simply aren't wide enough to slip over a thicker exterior door. That's one of the reasons why we recommend the GlideLok to make even your exterior door locks child proof.
The GlideLok Childproofing Door Lock fits most doors up to 1-13/16 inches thick, which is wider than other top-of-door locks. The reason? Because the GlideLok includes a removable spacer bar. Just break out a #1 drill bit or screwdriver (use a #1 size to prevent screws from stripping), and remove the spacer bar to expand the fit to doors 1-13/16 inches thick. These measurements will fit most exterior doors!
If your door is thinner, you may not even need to remove the spacer bar. In that case, your door would need to be 1-3/8 inches thick or less.
Keep in mind that the GlideLok works on most exterior doors, but does NOT work on metal door frames, patio screen doors, storm doors, or double swing doors (that swing both ways).
Well, there are lots of ways to tackle this and prevent little children from getting into unsafe areas of your home. But here's what we think you need to look for in a child safety lock door.
Don't risk getting trapped in a room! Adults must be able to open the door easily from either side. This is vital information, so don't miss this.
If you are purchasing a child safety door lock to keep your baby or toddler safe, then listen up. You could be accomplishing the exact opposite of what you want with this dangerous side effect of many child safety locks for doors on the market today.
We've said it before, and we'll say it again. Your kids will undoubtedly try to dismantle the locking mechanism unless they can't reach it. Our philosophy is don't give them the idea in the first place! Out of sight, out of mind.
That's why we like the GlideLok Top-of-Door Childproofing Lock so much, as it sits at the very top of your door, completely out of reach of your baby, toddler or small child.
This is an underappreciated point. Remember the days when you could barely open a pill bottle because it was supposed to be child proof? Oh, wait, that was yesterday because they are STILL this way.
When you are going in and out of rooms in your home, you don't want to struggle to open the door. Or worse, be so annoyed at the difficulty involved in opening the door that you get lazy and just stop engaging the lock. (Remember a child lock door is the most effective way to prevent your child from getting into unsafe areas in your home.)
A high-quality top-of-door lock will sit at the very top of your door, which means you can reach it but your kids can't. And that means it's OK for it to be EASY to operate. Because your kids won't be operating it. Only you will!
We haven't discussed this piece of information at length yet, but it's an important concept. Nearly all baby safety products on the market today are made of plastic. You will be hard-pressed to find a baby proofing item that is NOT made of plastic.
But the problem with plastic is it likely can't stand up to the use and abuse of little children. It's simply too weak and too flimsy. We much prefer a durable metal option (like the GlideLok Childproofing Door Lock) that will last you for many years. Why buy baby proofing products over and over when you can just buy them once?
You've probably heard the phrase, "The best kind of exercise is the kind you will do." Because if you're not even going to try, it doesn't matter how great the potential is. In a similar way, the products you use for baby proofing should be a snap to install, with clear instructions and guidance. Otherwise, you may never get around to taking care of it.
The GlideLok Childproofing Top-of-Door Lock requires just one screw to install, and that screw is even included with your order. We provide clear instructions, troubleshooting information, and a variety of videos (like this instructional video here and this troubleshooting tips video here), so you can save time and install the GlideLok right the first time.
If you have multiple children, then you're going to be dealing with child safety locks doors for awhile. Why deface your house with gaudy plastic gadgets all over the place if you don't have to?
Most child proof door solutions need to be placed in extremely obvious, in-your-face spots. Not only is it hard to miss them, but if your darling baby gets a wild hair to try to rip off the lock from your door, the damage will be front-and-center.
We are not a fan of adhesive for multiple reasons.
When you secure your locking mechanism with a screw in your door frame, you're ensuring that the lock will remain secure, no matter what your baby or toddler does.
Remember, the GlideLok Childproofing Door Lock comes with a screw, so you don't even have to worry about that part. But please do note that you must drill a pilot hole first to prevent damage to your door frame!
If you ever need to remove the GlideLok, patching the small hole from the screw is a snap. But most customers just leave it in place because no one even realizes the GlideLok is there. Leave it unlocked, and you're good to go.
OK, you probably already know this. But we think it's worth focusing on. When other parents are raving about the same product, it might be a good idea to listen. And when your fellow buyers have had significant problems with a product you're considering, pay serious attention!
We are enormously proud that the GlideLok has hundreds of positive reviews. They prove that other parents know the same thing we do - that this baby proofing product is quite possibly the #1 item you will buy as a mom or dad. Here's a look at what some of our customers had to say:
I have been searching high and low for a product to keep my toddler safe who is into everything and has zero fear. This safety lock was easy to install. I did it myself with my drill and drill bit. It tells you what size to use. This thing is heavy duty and I LOVE that it has the option to fit my door to the garage so hubby can let himself in from outside the door by sliding it one way to unlock or the other way to lock. I have an incredibly strong toddler who doesn't give up easily. This keeps him safe!
You are a life saver. I have a smart 4 yo daughter that can unlock and open doors. I was afraid that she would get outside and get lost or even worse get hurt. I was looking for a product that I could lock from the outside and inside, and your product is exactly what I was looking for. It was so easy to install and now I don't need to worry about my daughter getting out of the house. Thank you so much for your amazing product.
These are a great and easy solution for keeping doors locked when you have small grandchildren who are smarter than you are! It fits on the top of the door, out of the reach of little fingers who have already learned how to unlock the door. Since we have a pool, keeping them in the house when we're not outside with them is vital. I can also see where they would be helpful on doors where you want a little extra layer of security. Very easy to install and use.
We bought these because our 2 year old twin boys can break through/open any door in our house (not so great)! We initially looked at the plastic door locks, but after reading the reviews we realized our boys would snap them like a twig. We read one review from a guy recommending these ones, the metal ones. They are AMAZING! I would recommend them to any parent looking to keep their kids safe. It's great too because I can lock the room from inside, Love these!
To combat my special needs son's dangerous habit of wandering, I had searched all sorts of methods and this is the one that was immediately the most secure and cost efficient. 1. It's lockable/unlockable from both sides of the door so no worries of accidental lockouts/ins & makes it perfect for use on interior and exterior doors alike. 2. It's simple which means user friendly & cheap. 3. It installs at the top of the door so I won't need to worry about him reaching to manipulate it for some time. 4. With a spring I can rig it to auto latch once the doors closed thus prevent him from using a stick to slide it open. (will also work to remind my mother to use it as she would 't be able to close the door without latching it) I can rest a little bit easier with these installed.
I originally purchased these GlideLoks in July 2014 and they still work flawlessly today! After my escape artist of a toddler son figured out how to unlock every single door in our house, I had to find a solution. I wanted something that was out of his reach, and that would last for years to come, but wouldn't prevent someone from coming IN the door from outside...and this fits the bill! These are designed to fit thin and thick doors. I use this on our front door, and I used another in the pack at my MIL's house for when he's there visiting, and looked them up again today to order another pack as we just replaced a sliding glass door with French doors.
Are you ready to prevent your little one from getting into unsafe areas of your house? Please take a look at the GlideLok Childproofing Door Lock. With a 100% MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE, you can't go wrong. The GlideLok is NOT sold in stores, and supplies are very limited. So claim yours today!

Summer is just around the corner, and families across America will be filling up their pools for some relaxin’ and splashin’ fun. But there’s a grim side to swimming pools … Every year, nearly 350 children die in accidental drownings in pools. It’s a nightmare no parent should ever face, and with the right child proof exterior door lock, you’ve got a solid first line of defense.
Here’s what you can do to make sure your child stays safe, even with a pool in your backyard:
The idea here is to create as many layers of protection between your child and the pool as possible. With small children at home, no pool is complete without a protective fence. And no fence is complete without a gate your child can’t open.
This article offers some very useful tips on how to make sure your pool fence will protect your toddler. For example, it should be at least 4 feet high, surround all 4 sides of the pool, and have no more than 4 inches of space between each slat. The lock should be at least 54 inches from the ground to prevent your child from reaching it.
Child drownings are disturbingly quick. That means you must have a way of being alerted to danger as soon as it happens. If your toddler gets past all the other layers of protection, a swimming pool alarm can detect waves and sound loudly so you can rescue your child.
Most drownings occur when a child is already under the care of their parents or other adult. That means they slipped away unnoticed out the back door and into the pool. Some children even escape through a doggie door! If you’re serious about protecting your child from pool dangers, you need a solid exterior door, and a completely child proof lock.
The GlideLok Top-of-Door Childproofing System is a fantastic solution for this because it is one of the only top-of-door locks that can be installed on an exterior door. The GlideLok:
Regardless of whether you choose the GlideLok or some other child door lock, be sure to not skip this step.
A small device for the price of a couple of fast food meals can literally save your child’s life. See what other customers have to say about the GlideLok.

We won’t beat around the bush here … You must, absolutely must, use a child proof deluxe top door lock on your bathroom door. Why all the fuss? Well, here’s something you probably didn’t know about your child. And this is a game-changer.
The typical baby’s head is 35 percent of their body mass, and most toddlers can’t touch their hands over their heads. That means if they fall into the toilet or a bucket head first, they will not be able to push themselves out. You have two minutes until brain damage occurs.
Get yourself a plan, and this won’t happen to you. Here are a few tips to get you started …
This includes cleaning buckets, baby pools, and essentially wherever there is a container of water. Empty all the water immediately after use. Tie a string to your finger or implement some other kind of reminder so you don’t forget. It’s that important!
If you think your toilet isn’t a massive hazard to your child, think again. Children can pull themselves up and fall into the toilet and not escape. It’s horrible, tragic and it CAN happen to you. But it doesn’t have to. Buy some childproofing toilet locks, and you’re halfway there.
By far, the best plan is to prevent your toddler from entering the bathroom unattended in the first place. You need a childproof door lock that sits at the very top of your door, so you can reach it – but your child can’t.
Look for something like the GlideLok Top of Door Childproofing System:

Did you know children ages 1-4 have the highest drowning rates? They are quite mobile, and all it takes is a brief minute for your toddler or preschooler to get into a very dangerous situation. Luckily, you can start taking steps today to prevent this from becoming your reality. And of course, a door child lock is part of the solution!
Today, let’s discuss bath drownings and what you can do to prevent your child from becoming a statistic.
Prior to bathing your child, gather all supplies, towels, shampoo, body wash, etc., so they are right beside you and you can keep one hand on baby at all times.
Drain water immediately after bath, before removing the child so you don’t forget. You must eliminate standing bathwater that a child could later fall into.
Never leave your child unattended in the bathtub, and continue to monitor bath time through the preschool years.
You want to avoid a situation where your child would wander into the bathroom unattended and fill up the bathtub themselves while you’re cooking dinner, caring for other children, or on a phone call.
The GlideLok Child Safety Door Top Lock can serve this purpose.
We invite you to check out what our customers have to say about the GlideLok. They can say it way better than we can! See customer testimonials for GlideLok.

You know, some of the best products in the market today were created by a small business that saw a need they could fix. And that’s exactly how the GlideLok Door Childproof Lock came to be ...
This child proof door lock was invented by a dad of twins, Jack Smith. He runs a childproofing business and saw firsthand how most child locks for doors offer ZERO help in keeping toddlers safe. So, he did something about it.
After many proto-types and lots and lots of testing, the GlideLok Top-of-Door Childproofing System was born. Jack and his childproofing installation business in Texas use the GlideLok every single day in their clients’ homes. And there’s a reason why the demand stays high. Because it works.
The GlideLok solves so many of the problems caused by competitor child proof door locks. And it costs less than a couple of fast food meals.
This means you will never get locked out of a room. It's crucial because other locks designed to child proof a door handle only work from one side of the door. If you’re in the bathroom and your child (or dog) accidentally engage the lock from the other side, you’re trapped.
I’ve heard story after story of parents busting their door down or needing to call the fire department for help. Not exactly a convenient solution.
Another reason I love the GlideLok door childproof lock is because it’s made of durable metal, and not flimsy plastic. That means your child can’t bust through it, and it won’t bend or break.
There are competitor child locks for doors made of plastic that completely bend when your toddler pushes hard enough, and they bust right through the door. Insane.
The GlideLok sits at the very top of your door, so guess who can’t even attempt to reach it? Your curious little child. You, however, have the height advantage and can easily slide the lock across to secure the door, or across to unlock. And you can keep it unlocked, or disengaged, for as long as you want.
I could go on for days about all the reasons why the GlideLok child proof door lock is my favorite solution for babyproofing your doors. But I’ll let our customers have the last word. Click Testimonials to see what other parents like yourself think of the GlideLok child lock for doors.

When you’re looking for a child proof front door lock, the last thing you need are solutions that are both childproof and adult proof. Pinched fingers, mounting frustrations, red hands from squeezing so hard – it’s all a little much, if you ask me. But I understand why some child locks for doors are made this way.
When you install something at kid-level, that means the child has hours a day to figure it out. So you have to make it difficult. Not just mentally difficult, but physically difficult. The problem is, it’s incredibly hard for parents as well.
My solution? Mount the child lock for doors completely out of reach of children. This means you can make it EASY for a parent to operate, because the child can’t reach it in the first place.
Well guess what – a childproofing installation company had the same idea I did and voila – the GlideLok Top-of-Door Childproofing System was born.
Listen, I love the GlideLok so much that Millow Market, my company, became its official online distributor. I would love for you to hear straight from our customers what they think of the GlideLok.

Today, I’m going to share with you why I prefer child proof door locks for the front door that use a screw instead of adhesive.
Listen, I can understand why some people are apprehensive about using a screw. There were many times in the past where I was not thrilled about drilling a hole in my house. But with a child lock for doors, it’s different. Here’s why ...
I don’t care what company makes the adhesive, it is not anywhere near as strong as a screw. When you’re trying to child proof your door handle or door knob, and you choose a lock that mounts with adhesive, it also probably mounts at kid level.
You know what that means? Your toddler has hours a day to mess with it, pull on it and ultimately destroy it or rip it completely off your door.
That’s actually putting it mildly. When it comes time to remove your child proof door locks, I can show you photo after photo of parents who have been shocked that their paint came off with the adhesive.
I know it’s not supposed to happen. I know they say you can remove it without damaging your paint. I’m telling you that the marketing does not match the reality in many cases.
There are several child proof door locks on the market that don’t use adhesive. But my favorite is the GlideLok Top-of-Door Childproofing System. This child lock for doors sits on TOP of the door, which is key because it means your kids can’t reach it – but you can. A sturdy peg is mounted with a screw at the top of your door frame.
Yes, you will drill a small screw into your door frame. But you know what? Most people don’t even see the GlideLok on your door. You would hardly know it’s there. The GlideLok is so inconspicuous that it blends right in with your décor. That means, even when you no longer need the lock, many people choose to leave it installed but disengaged.
If you decide you must remove the GlideLok completely, you can simply fill in the hole with a little putty – just as you’ll do for any pictures or wall décor you hang. It’s that easy. And the all-metal GlideLok is so much stronger than the childproof door handle locks made of plastic.
Plus – and this is a big plus – it operates from BOTH sides of the door. Most child proof door locks for the front door only work from one side, so if the lock side gets engaged and you’re on the other side of the door, guess what? You’re not getting out. It happens, a lot. But never with the GlideLok.
I love the GlideLok child proof door lock so much that my company, Millow Market, became its official online distributor. If this product sounds like it might help your family, I would love for you to see what other customers have to say right here.

Today, I’m going to share with you my top 3 areas you need to childproof in your bathroom, including the best child proof door lock to use.
This is one of the most overlooked areas in the house, but also the most frustrating when you start to realize all the hazards that exist. But don’t worry, because it can all be addressed.
Now, keep in mind this is not a comprehensive list, but will definitely get you started on your childproofing project for the bathroom. OK, let’s hop into it ...
If you have a bathtub that is front and center in the bathroom, like most houses in America, and you have a toddler, then you know exactly why I’m mentioning this. I remember when my daughter was 2, once she realized that the faucet handles turned and spewed water everywhere, there was no stopping her.
When we were in there, she was constantly lunging for them and blasting the water every chance she got. Now this can be dangerous for several reasons ...
Even without all of those factors, it’s just plain annoying. I remember searching the Internet for locks or latches or some legit way to childproof tub handles. Until I had the brilliant idea to unscrew them.
That’s right, just take the handles off. What’s left are little nubs that are a LOT, and I mean a LOT, harder to turn. That right there fixed our bathtub faucet problems for good.
Even though you understand all the germs in a toilet bowl, your toddler does not. It’s fun to look at the water swirling around in the bowl and stuffing it with way more toilet paper than your pipes can handle.
How to prevent this? Easy. Get yourself a toilet seat lock. Yes, this actually does exist. I prefer one that doesn’t use adhesive unless your toilet lid is plastic. You know how I feel about adhesive on painted surfaces. The two do not go together.
How about keeping your child from entering the bathroom in the first place? That’s your best bet and by far the most effective way to minimize any childproofing you must do inside the bathroom.
In my opinion, the best choice for this is the GlideLok Top-of-Door Childproofing System. This child safety door lock sits on top of your door. That is the key because your kids can’t reach it, but you can.
It’s made out of durable metal, not flimsy plastic, so it will stand up to quite a bit of abuse. And the best part is the GlideLok childproofing door lock operates from BOTH sides of the door. So you can’t get trapped in a room like other childproof door locks.
I love the GlideLok child safety door lock so much that my company, Millow Market, became its official online distributor. We hear from parents every day who are thrilled that they finally found this product, because it has been such a game changer for their family. If you’d like to hear their stories, I invite you to check it out today.
How’s childproofing going for you? If you’re like me, when it was time to babyproof our house, I was completely overwhelmed and honestly didn’t want to do it at all. I thought – hey, maybe I can get away with skipping this part. I’m always watching her.
But logic won out and I finally had to sit down and do the real research of which childproofing methods were going to work for my family.
In my last video, I shared with you 3 areas of your kitchen that you must childproof. Today, we’re going to talk about the living room, including which solution you should use to make your door lock baby proof.
One of the biggest hazards in a living room is the cabinet that the TV sits on. Especially if the TV is not enclosed and it’s more of a console table. If it has drawers, toddlers often like to open those drawers and climb their way to the top. They’re fearless, you know.
If your cabinet is not strapped to the wall, it can topple over onto your child. And this can be deadly. There have been recalls by very large companies whose name you would know (you can Google it) where at least 8 toddlers died because this specific dresser or cabinet fell over onto them.
It’s scary, but it can be prevented. Get yourself some earthquake-rated furniture straps. They screw to the wall and to the back of your cabinet or dresser. This way, as long as they’re properly installed, your child should be safe even if they manage to climb on something when you’re not looking.
If you’re in any parenting Facebook groups, you are well aware of the horrors that can happen if a child gets their head caught in a window blind cord or in between the blinds themselves.
It’s hard to imagine, but there are plenty of videos circulating the Internet showing this happen via a nanny cam, and these children were rescued and survived thankfully.
Most window blind cords are looping. That means there are multiple cords all tied with the same knob or tassel. So it’s easy for a child to get tangled up in them. But if you snip the loop part just above the knob or tassel, you will essentially have multiple cords that you can attach separate knobs to, and you greatly reduce the problem.
It’s a little bit more cumbersome to operate, but definitely more child-friendly. If you have a continuous cord loop, you can purchase a tie down that attaches the bottom of the cords to the wall. You insert your cord or chain into the tie-down device, so it’s no longer a danger.
Another option is to upgrade to cordless shades. Definitely more expensive, but also much safer than having cords.
If your house has the front door near the living room, you should listen up. Because today I’m going to share with you my favorite way to childproof an interior or exterior door. It’s called the GlideLok Top-of-Door Childproofing System.
This will work to childproof a door knob or a door handle or lever, because it sits at the top of your door. So you can reach it, but your kids can’t. Now, because you are able to easily reach it, they didn’t have to make it tough to operate like most child safety locks for doors.
You simply install a peg and screw (which come in the package) into the top of your door frame, and place the GlideLok on top of your door. Slide across to lock, and across to unlock. Easy.
Because of how the GlideLok is made, it also operates from BOTH sides of the door. This is very important, because some child safety door locks only work from one side. That means if the lock gets engaged from that side, you’re trapped in a room. And this happens more than you want to know.
The GlideLok childproof door lock is made of a durable metal, not flimsy plastic, so even your strong toddler will not bust right through it. And if your child is like mine, eventually they realize when the GlideLok is engaged, the door is locked, and they look to you for help to open the door anyway.
I love the GlideLok childproof door lock so much that Millow Market, my company, became its official online distributor. If it sounds like the GlideLok may be the right fit to childproof your doors, then I’d love for you to check it out today.
Are you overwhelmed at the thought of childproofing your house? Thankfully, when you’re just getting used to having a baby around (and getting used to surviving on 3 hours of sleep a night), childproofing concerns are still far away.
You’ve got a lot of baby stages to go through before you really need to worry about making your house safe. But once baby starts crawling, it’s time.
In this new series of videos, I’m going to share with you 3 areas of your house you need to childproof. And today, let’s focus on the kitchen, along with which childproof door locks above the door to use ...
Here you probably store cleaning supplies, knives, glass and ceramic bowls, and all kinds of other things that are dangerous – or just annoying – for a child to get into. So unless you want to be constantly picking up the contents of your kitchen cabinets off the floor, you need to childproof them.
There are a lot of ways to do this, some of which attach on the outside of the cabinets and some on the inside. My favorite solution is a magnetic lock that attaches with a screw on the inside of the cabinets. If you’re not handy, you may need to have these professionally installed (we did), but they are awesome!
They come with a strong magnet that you should keep on your fridge or otherwise out of reach of your child, and you just use the magnet to disengage the lock when you need to open a cabinet. It sounds cumbersome, but it’s actually quite fast, and as long as you don’t lose the magnet, you’re good.
You can also set the lock to stay unlocked if you don’t need it anymore, so then you don’t even need the magnet to open it. The other reason I like these is because they install INSIDE the cabinet and not outside. If you care about your décor, this may be important to you.
This encompasses your refrigerator and your oven, and potentially your dishwasher. You want to keep your child from trying to open those doors. You can imagine why this would be dangerous.
And with the oven, even if it’s not on and even if you never use it, it’s still especially dangerous because if your child is like mine, they will want to climb up and hang on the oven door handle. At some point, their weight is going to be enough that they fall backwards because the oven door flings open, and they can seriously injure themselves.
For these types of doors, I liked the multi-use latches that stick onto any surface. I don’t usually like to use adhesive, as you know, but these latches are pretty much the only solution I’ve found to childproof a fridge or oven. You just place one end on the side of the fridge and place the other part on the door, and it’s locked. You’ll get used to latching and unlatching them, I promise.
That leads me to the other child safety lock for doors that you need, and that’s to childproof all the doors leading out of your kitchen. This could include your laundry room or your door to the backyard.
The best solution for this, in my opinion, is the GlideLok Top-of-Door Childproofing System.

]]>Is your toddler constantly barging into your pre-teen’s room? Listen, there are a lot of great things about having siblings so far apart in age. But the whole privacy issue is not one of them. Your older child is coming into their own, and they want a space to themselves – away from the prying eyes and hands of a 2-year-old.
Hi, I’m Jessica, founder of Millow Market and mommy to two young girls. And today I want to share with you a child proof lock for door that can solve your sibling woes. But first, let’s talk about what you DON’T want.
So what DO you want? Well, I’ll tell you that I had all the same problems that I just talked about, and I thought I was never going to find the right solution to childproof a door handle or door knob entering a bedroom.
I called a local childproofing company, because these guys know what works. And you know what they used on ALL our doors? The GlideLok Top-of-Door Childproofing System.
I love the GlideLok so much that my company, Millow Market, became its official online distributor.
Customers have told us the GlideLok is the absolute BEST way to child proof a door handle, a door knob, an interior door or even an exterior door. If it sounds like the GlideLok may be the right fit to childproof your doors, then I’d love for you to check it out now.

Today, I’m going to share with you 3 MORE ways to child proof a door handle or lever. If you read my last blog, I shared 3 ways you could make your door handle – or lever – childproof. And today, I’ve got a few more.
This will work for very young children, because doors with lever handles are the easiest kind to open. All the child has to do is pull the handle, and they’re off. If you have door knobs, on the other hand, it takes some serious dexterity to get them open.
Early toddlers probably can’t do it yet. So, if you have some knobs laying around, this may buy you some time. But ultimately, you’re still going to have to deal with a child who can open your door.
This kind of child lock for doors doubles as a pinch guard because the door stays slightly open, allowing fresh air to circulate. You can place it at any height, so in theory, you could place it up high where kids are less likely to reach it.
My biggest issue with this solution is your door doesn’t completely close. There are times, like when a baby is napping in that room, where you probably don’t want the door open, even if it’s not open wide enough for your toddler to sneak through.
For me, the doors I wanted to keep my kids out of, I wanted to stay shut. Not a little open. Shut. That makes a big difference in terms of sound, and the fact that the child can see it’s slightly open just invites them to try to figure out how to get in. Versus, if the door stayed shut – out of sight, out of mind.
The other issue with this child lock for doors is you have to remove it from your door every time you open it. Yes, unlocking the device means actually taking it off your door, and then putting it back on again when you need to lock it. So for doors you come in and out of frequently, this would get extremely annoying.
OK, are you ready for the one that actually worked for me to child proof a door handle? Here we go. It’s called …
This is the PERFECT option if you need to childproof any door handle in your house – including interior OR exterior doors.
