Since our little one has become a mini explorer, we decided to put his toddler bed in our bedroom and have him sleep there with us until we can safely let him sleep in his room. We needed a safety lock that was 1) Strong, because we have a strong little guy that has broken off those sticker baby locks on cabinets, and 2) A lock that my husband and I can easily open from inside and outside the bedroom.
The GlideLok has ticked off all the boxes for us. It’s strong because it’s made of metal and has the option of being opened from inside or outside the room by sliding the metal. It was easy for my husband to install. He drilled a hole and screwed the peg on the top of the door frame.
Highly recommended if you have a toddler. Those baby-proof stickers are no longer strong enough and this contraption is easier to use than those door knob child locks.
]]>Needless to say, this is the first thing that has worked for a while. Don't buy the plastic imitation products that are out there. Those are flimsy, but the authentic GlideLok is made of metal and stands up to use and abuse.
]]>The GlideLok was easy to install. I did it myself with my drill and drill bit. The instructions tell you what size to use. This thing is heavy duty and I LOVE that it has the option to fit my door to the garage so hubby can let himself in from outside the door by sliding it one way to unlock or the other way to lock.
I have an incredibly strong toddler who doesn't give up easily. This keeps him safe!
]]>The baby-proof stuff for levers had the potential for locking an adult in if the kids so decided, so those were only useful for the pantry. Frankly, if your kids are as smart as most of the ones I know, even if you have knobs and were going to do the cover they make for those, save your money.
Just install these where they are snug as a bug in a rug and even when they pull the dresser over to try and figure this thing out ... they physically cannot.
]]>This lock may be the best way to childproof certain doors, especially because it virtually eliminates the risk of you (or someone else) being locked inside.
