2-Pack of Extension Rods

These 12-inch companion rods help make the GlideLok easier to reach for taller doors / shorter adults. 

You are purchasing a 2-pack so there is one rod on each side of the GlideLok.

To attach the rods to your GlideLok:

  • Use a #2 Phillips drill bit or screwdriver to remove the screws from the rods.
  • Position your rod under the rod track on GlideLok Part C (the main sliding piece), and reattach the screw. Stop once the screw won't go any further, to avoid stripping it.
  • The screw will NOT go down all the way, and that's intentional. You want some wiggle room so the rod will slide easily on the track.
  • Now repeat with the second rod on the other side of GlideLok Part C.

How thick can my door be in order to properly fit the GlideLok?

Your door can be up to 1-13/16 inches thick if you remove the GlideLok spacer bar with a #2 Phillips drill bit. Your door can be up to 1-3/8 inches thick in order to install the GlideLok without removing the spacer bar. Please measure the thickness of your door before ordering.

What types of doors does the GlideLok fit?

The GlideLok works on most standard doors with hinges, including:

  • Both interior doors AND exterior doors
  • French doors
  • Double doors (that swing in one direction)
  • Doors with levers, knobs or large / uniquely shaped handles

What kinds of doors will NOT work with the GlideLok? 

This product does NOT work on any type of sliding door on a track, including:

  • Bifold doors or pocket doors
  • Sliding glass doors or sliding decorative barn doors
  • Metal door frames
  • Patio screen doors or storm doors
  • Double swing doors (that swing both ways)

Do I need to screw anything into my door frame?

Installation of the GlideLok requires one screw (included in the package). Yes, this screw must be drilled into your door frame.

The door in my home is extra tall, or I am extra short. Will the GlideLok work for me?

You must be able to reach the top of your door, in order to manually slide the GlideLok across to lock and unlock. If you are unable to reach on your own, you can purchase the GlideLok Extension Rod 2-Pack (one for each side of the GlideLok).
